(hijacking this and taking it in an existential direction) I've often found that the statement of, "I think therefore I am," is misguided. I could in fact be a being who is tricked into believe it is self-aware so that it does not focus on other aspects of life, such as the inevitability of death. Awareness therefore is an illusion.
